RearSounds is Richard Reardon. Every cabinet that leaves here was cut, glued, finished, measured and signed by the same pair of hands.
Why the name
Reardon is the family name. RearSounds is what the workshop is called, and the two are the same thing — the plate on the back of every cabinet reads built by hand, Richard Reardon, with a serial number under it.
The standard etymology of Reardon traces to the Irish Ó Ríordáin, from ríoghbhard — royal poet, the king’s bard. It is a better name for a loudspeaker company than anyone has a right to expect. A loudspeaker’s entire job is to carry somebody else’s song faithfully and add nothing of its own.

What this is not
It is not a brand with a factory behind it and a heritage story bolted on. There is no design team, no distribution network, and no marketing department deciding which measurements to show you. That is the constraint and it is also the offer.
It also is not a company that will pretend a bigger model is right for you when a smaller one would be. The trade-up credit exists precisely so that starting smaller costs you nothing in the long run.
Where it happens
Grand Forks, ND. The location is not the story — it is simply where the bench is. What matters is that there is a bench, that it has one person at it, and that the person is named on the back of what you buy.
Who these are for
Those groups usually get sold different products — accurate ones that are tiring, or pleasant ones that lie. The entire design brief here is to refuse that split: honest enough to work on, warm enough to live with.
